Rules: Map a Visitor's Activity to a Variety Actions That You Define

Location:  Marketing Automation/Rules

Overview:  Rules are the object in our system that map Triggers (such as a Website Visitor's Activity) to Actions that you can pre-define.

Triggers are performed by your website visitors or sometimes your backend management tasks as well.

Some examples would be:

  • Filling Out a Form or Survey
  • Registering for a Course or Event
  • Purchasing a Product
  • And much more…

Actions are what you want to have happen when the defined Trigger occurs. They are mapped to the Trigger via the Rules you create in Marketing Automation.

Some common examples would be:

  • Add a Category to their Contact Record
  • Add to a Subscription List
  • Add to a Sequence to send Follow Up Emails
  • And much more…

Note: You can have one Trigger result in as many Actions as needed, so one Rule can contain many Actions.
