Article Editor – General Section Overview

Location:  Content Management/Articles/Article Editor -> General Section

Overview: The main areas of interest in the general section of the article editor are:

Name Field

The name, or title field of an article, is a required type-in text field where you can enter the name of the article. This is mainly used for internal reference but can also be displayed when certain types of article display methods are employed.  Read more about the name field here.

Theme Select Menu

This setting allows you to apply your website's theme to the content editor environment to better support visual editing. If your website has only one theme, this menu setting will default to that theme. Some websites have more than one theme, in which case it becomes very useful to load the correct theme into the editor for content editing. Read more about themes here.

Main Body Content Field

This text input field will host your main website body content and utilizes standard web content formatting tools. You may paste your content from Word or other word processing apps, or you may type in and create your content directly in the field provided.

Web Content Editing Toolset

Like Microsoft Word, or other word processing applications, the toolset you see in the editors assists you in formatting your text such as applying bold, italic, ordered lists and more. These tools also create the HTML behind the scenes that is necessary for rendering your formatted content into webpage content.

TIP: It will be especially important to learn about each of the features of this toolset. You can jump over to the main help course on Web Content Editing Tools where we cover in-depth everything you need to know to work with these tools. Topics include how to insert an image, or embed video or audio, or how to create links and more.
