Access the Shareable Link to a Document

Location: Content Management/Documents/Find and Select -> Click once for View Mode / Links Field 

Overview: Access the shareable link to a document file hosted in Documents to use in social media or other venues where you need to grant access to view your documents. 

How to Access the Shareable Link to a Document

In View mode of the Document, visit the Link to Document fields and choose one of the following two.

1. Direct Link to Document: Use this link type to get the direct link to the document file that will open a view of the document in a browser tab or the device’s default viewer –right click, select and copy the link. Direct Link to the Document
2. Embed in Website: Use this link type to present the Document embedded in a website page –right click, select and copy the link.

The most conventional way to share your document file is via the Direct Link. The above video demonstrates the difference between these two. When shearing to social media, try each link and see which one you prefer.

*Note MS Word, Excel and other proprietary file types willto auto-save to the computer or device for viewing as there is no default-browser based view for these file types.
