Importing Contacts - Before Import Checklist

  • Properly format your data file: Be sure your file is formatted with one data point per column.  For example: First Name, Last Name, Street Address, City and Sate etc should all be in their own dedicated columns.

  • Country Code: If including country in your data file, please be sure to use the (ISO Alpah-2) or 2 character alphabet-based Country Code to populate the Country field in your import. Please consult this link if needed and update your Country Code column accordingly. https://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/ctycodes.htm

  • Non-Standard Characters: Review formatting of the file - it's always a good idea to check your files carefully for strange symbols or characters. Sometimes when the files are saved and converted from its native form to .CSV some non-compatible formatting may appear.  After you save to .CSV, review your file for unusual characters such as non-standard symbols or characters or carriage returns and update as needed before import.

  • Remove any Hidden Line Breaks: You may not be able to see this hidden issue, but your .CSV file may have some hidden line breaks in a cell, this is most common in address cells where for instance the street may be on one line, and the apartment number on another hidden (out of view) line. If imported into our system, this record will fail to import. The best strategy to avoid this is as you are formatting your file for import, one of the final steps should be to run a Search and Replace on the entire datasheet. In the Search field type  Control+J (note you will not "see" anything, but it is there) then Replace with a space by hitting the space bar (again you will not "see" anything) you will be replacing the line break with a space and this will bring up the invisible content in the cell into view, and also make your cell content compatible for import.

  • Save Your File as a .CSV file- (Required) Full Partner will only recognize and import .CSV files.

  • Create Category to Assign to Import File - (Optional) You can easily identify your imported contacts by assigning a category to them at import. (See more here.)

  • Create Member Group to Assign to Import File - (Optional) If your contacts will need to be easily identified and assigned special permissions, such as sign in, or access to a set of pages, then be sure to assign a member group in the import field.  (See more here.)
