Styles Menu - Applying Your Theme's Headers: H1, H2, H3 etc

Overview: The Styles menu allows you to use a theme to apply a consistent set of styles to your website content. 

The follow points are of interest when understanding the Styles menu:

  • The Styles menu shows the styles applicable to an entire paragraph of text–sometimes called Block Styles.
  • Block styles such as the H1 and H2 tags can benefit your SEO if used properly.
  • Using Styles form this menu help create a consistent look from page to page and should be the default choice for most of your web content.
  • These styles are set in your website’s Theme.

Summary:

In the leftmost corner of the third row we have a Styles menu. When you open this menu it shows you the styles that are available to apply to a paragraph or single block of text.

These styles are found in your website's theme and you may one or several themes. The theme is loaded in the article and other editor environments and assigned through the theme menu. 

The styles menu is where you can find the header tags. The benefit of using the header tags such as H1, H2 and H3 etc, is that it can benefit your search engine optimization by having certain keywords found within certain “H tags." 

Also for the consistency of web design, applying styles allows you to have a theme or consistent use of styles from one page to the next.

Header styles, or sometimes called H tags," are actually applied at a paragraph or block level, so they cannot be assigned to just a portion of a sentence. They are designed to work just as a Header would: a single block of text that is designed to be a heading for a page or section of text.

How to add a Header style using an H1 or H2 tags etc. tag

To apply the Header styles, click your mouse at the beginning of the text would like to add the style to, or highlight it all, and go into the style menu and choose the Header tag you want to add. 

How to remove a Header style

To remove a header style, click your mouse at the beginning of the paragraph that you want to modify, or highlight it all, then open the style menu. In the style menu scroll through the selections and set it back to “paragraph normal.” This will set it back to default text.
