Add a Style or Button Format to a Link

Overview: All links will assume the theme’s default link style unless you apply an additional style to them. Learn how to add apply additional link styles from your theme to your links.

Summary: You can add any additional theme-defined link style to your links. These link styles are applied in the content editor and override the link style that is already applied by your theme by default.

These theme-defined links are key to updating the look to your links, since they include a corresponding hover style to match. The theme-defined link styles often include: larger heading type links, button formatted links, smaller text for footer and copyright links etc.

How to Add a Style or Button Format to a Link

Note that link styles are applied after the link has been created, so if you haven’t already, you will need to follow the steps to create the link first.

  1. Highlight the text of the link that you want to add a different style to.
  2. Click on the “Add Link” tool in the tool set to bring up the Insert Link dialog.
  3. In the Insert Link dialog, open the “Style” menu and select the link style you'd like to add.
  4. Click the “Save” button to finalize the link.
  5. To change a link style that has already been applied, repeat steps 2-5 above.

*If you want to change the way your default links look on your website, you will want to make that change at the Theme level.
