Link to an Anchor on the Same Page

Overview: Also called “jump to links,” anchor links are useful for quick indexed list type links that are often placed at the top of a page that takes the visitor to the exact section located or “anchored” further down the page within the same content object.

Use this Anchor Link to go to the "How To" steps further down the page.

How to Create an Anchor Link

Creating Anchor type Links is a two-step process that involves:

  1. Creating the Anchor
  2. Creating the Link to the Anchor

Step One: Create the Anchor First

  1. Select the text you want to be the destination of the anchor link.
  2. In the Insert Menu, choose Anchor.
  3. Give your Anchor a Name. (The name you type will be visible in the URL address bar when linked to.)
  4. Click Ok.

Step Two: Create the Link to the Anchor

  1. Highlight the text or select an image that you want to become the link.
  2. Click on the “Add Link” tool in the tool set.
  3. This brings up the Insert Link dialog.
  4. Find and open the “Link To” menu and select “Anchor” from the list.
  5. Next in the same Insert Link dialog, locate and open the Anchor Menu and select the Anchor Name from the list that you want to link to.
  6. Click the “Save” button to finalize the link.
